Mysore's royal palace, lit with close to 100,000 bulbs on Sunday evenings, is one of Karnataka's signature sights. This short circuit pairs a couple of days there with Coorg, a cool hill region of coffee and spice plantations in the Western Ghats known locally as the Scotland of India.
Visit Mysore Palace, Devaraja Market and Chamundi Hill. If your visit falls on a Sunday, stay for the palace's evening illumination.
Drive up into the Western Ghats to Coorg. Walk through coffee and spice plantations, visit Abbey Falls, and take in viewpoints across the misty hills before departure.
The full display runs on Sundays and public holidays; the palace itself is lit more modestly other evenings.

Coffee is grown year-round; the harvest runs roughly November to January, when plantations are especially active.
